Lori such great wisdom. Thank you for always sharing your heart. I teach Sunday School now and am amazed at how much biblical responsibility is put on us in our 1.5 hours a week to teach everything a child is to know about faith, the Bible etc.

Thanks for the comment. I am happy to hear this series is helping you. To be quite honest, even though we have just completed our 19th year of homeschooling, it is a help to me to go back and reread books like this from time to time. It’s so important for us to stay true to what God has called us to do and keep our eyes on the goals He has for our family and not to let ourselves fall into the trap of being caught up in the goals superimposed on us by others.

Hi Lori. I am so excited to have found your blog. I have read Ruth Beechick’s book, A Biblical Home Education, a few years back as I was searching for God’s confirmation on home schooling my children. I have just recently purchased my own copy to reread. I look forward to blogging/reading along with you. Being “new” (in our second year) to homeschooling, I find it overwhelming and somewhat suffocating, trying to find the right tools to teach my children. I hear God saying to me, “remember, why I called you? It was to teach them about Me.” It is sad to see so many home school families drift from the Word of God as their “spine” because we want something easier and then turn Scripture into a quote that we center on a cute coloring page. I too, even in my short time, have fallen into that trap and refuse to go there again. I feel like our family suffers when we put our Bible as a check off box on the schedule and keep Math and Language Art as our “must do”. Thank you for your leadership, wisdom, and perseverance.
