As moms, we are constantly giving to those around us. We focus on nurturing the hearts of our children, our family, and our friends. But, what about our own heart. Are we guarding it so that we have something to give? What’s the state of your heart? I’ve been asking that of myself a lot lately. God mentions the heart over 900 times in Scripture.
- Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. – Matthew 5:8
- For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. – Matthew 6:21
- A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. – Luke 6:45
- O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. – Matthew 12:34
We often talk about guarding our children’s hearts and teaching their hearts. But, we have a responsibility to nurture our own hearts as well. In today’s podcast, I’m talking about ways to guard our heart and expounding on some disciplines we can use to make sure we are “heart smart.”
